John Bert, MS, LMHC, GTC
John Bert is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the founder of Wellness Quest Counseling, PLLC. He earned his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Rochester and has dedicated his career to supporting individuals on their journey to well-being.
With years of experience at URMC Pediatric Behavioral Health and Wellness, John has worked with children, teens, and their families (ages 6-21), helping them navigate life’s challenges. He has also provided counseling for adults in community clinics and worked in a specialized school for children with autism.
A lifelong nerd and dedicated gamer, John has been playing Dungeons & Dragons for years and has now merged his passion for gaming with his expertise in mental health. As a Certified Therapeutic Game Master in the Games to Grow method, he specializes in geek therapy.
John introduced his game therapy method (TA-RPG) to the UofR clinic, where he has trained many therapists in using tabletop RPGs as a therapeutic tool, expanding the reach of this innovative approach.
Brennan Neidrauer, MS, LMHC, GTC
Brennan Neidrauer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Geek Therapist, and Therapeutic Gaming Master who specializes in using video games, tabletop RPGs, and storytelling as powerful tools for growth and healing.
Based in Rochester, NY, Brennan earned his master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from St. John Fisher University and has worked extensively with children, teens, and families at the University of Rochester’s Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness program. During his time there, he co-designed and facilitated several therapeutic groups grounded in creativity, collaboration, and play.
A lifelong geek, Brennan believes that the worlds we explore in games and stories often reflect the challenges and strengths we carry into real life. Through geek therapy and structured therapeutic gaming, he helps clients improve emotional regulation, communication, social skills, identity exploration, and confidence - all while feeling engaged and authentically themselves.
In addition to individual work, Brennan is deeply committed to supporting parents and caregivers. He provides guidance on understanding their child’s needs, building consistency at home, improving communication patterns, and navigating emotional or behavioral challenges with confidence and compassion.
Brennan is excited to bring his therapeutic style to Wellness Quest Counseling and is committed to growing the presence of geek-informed therapy throughout the Rochester community.
